With a soft spot for mom life, bold color, and all things curls, my chair is a safe space for transformation, conversation, and care. Whether you’re looking to shape up your coils, brighten your curls with sun-kissed highlights, or simply learn how to better love your hair — I’m here for it.

Over 10 years ago Christian, a self-identified Black Non-binary Queer person, began cutting their own hair to avoid the subjection of the largely cis-male-centric barbershop experience. Which unfortunately felt like not feeling safe, seen, and protected. They quickly recognized that many shared this experience within their native community, Oakland, CA, and that they had naturally gifted styling talents.

So, Christian honed in on their craft and apprenticed as a Barber while teaching themselves the technical aspects of cutting different hair types. But aside from that, they paid attention to the varying hair needs and listened to the desires of their clients and friends to feel seen and heard in a space that can be very vulnerable and intimate.

Mia Hood is a passionate and skilled hairstylist with a deep love for creative expression through hair. Classically trained through Toni & Guy, Mia began her career in 2018 at the renowned Bateau Salon on San Francisco’s Embarcadero. Since then, she has built a loyal following drawn to her precision, creativity, and warm client experience.

Now based in Sacramento, Mia specializes in haircuts, balayage, all-over color, and extensions, Mia thrives on bringing each client's vision to life— She's especially energized by fun, imaginative hair ideas and thrives in customizing each look to fit her clients’ unique style and lifestyle.
